Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of R&D tax relief claims for clients across various industries

  • Conduct client interviews to identify qualifying R&D activities and understand technical challenges

  • Research and analyse client projects to determine eligibility under HMRC guidelines

  • Support the preparation of technical reports that demonstrate compliance with BIS Guidelines for R&D

  • Calculate qualifying expenditure including staff costs, subcontractor costs, and consumables

  • Liaise with clients' finance teams and accountants to gather necessary financial information

  • Assist with responses to HMRC enquiries and provide supporting documentation

  • Keep up to date with changes to R&D tax legislation and HMRC guidance

  • Build strong working relationships with clients and internal team members

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes and procedures

Requirements

  • Recent graduate with a 2:1 or above (any degree discipline considered, though STEM subjects, accounting, finance, business, or law preferred)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Professional and confident manner when engaging with clients

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Strong organisational and time management skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word

  • Genuine interest in taxation, business innovation, and helping companies grow
